Surrey County Cricket Club has signed a three-year £100,000 sponsorship deal with City law firm Wedlake Bell to produce a family-friendly enclosure for their home domestic Twenty20 fixtures between 2008 and 2010.

The club feel that the family-orientated Twenty20 ccompetition has reinforced their responsibility to cater for all audiences with an increasing emphasis on families, who can come and watch the cricket in a friendly environment.

The Wedlake Bell family enclosure will be a section of 330 seats within the ground specifically made for families with young children. The area will be carefully stewarded and the importation of alcohol into the enclosure will be strictly prohibited – allowing an enjoyable environment from which children and their parents can enjoy watching the action.

“The popularity of domestic Twenty20 cricket in England since the competition’s inception in 2003 has increased dramatically," said Surrey Sales and Marketing Director Paul Blanchard (pictured), one of the most innovative salesmen in the clounty game and who used to work at Southampton Football Club.

"As a result of the huge demand for this form of the game, we feel that it’s imperative that we value all different groups of supporters that come to watch cricket here.

“Therefore we have teamed up with Wedlake Bell to create a family- specific enclosure to ensure that all supporters of the Brown Caps and cricket in general can continue to enjoy this tremendously exciting form of the game within friendly surroundings.”
